Mounts

The Fornax51 / Fornax55 / Alt 6 mounts on Kiripotib Astrofarm have an OnStep controller. The controller does not have a functioning ST4 port, which means that it cannot be operated with external guiders, such as the Lacerta MGEN2/3, and also not via a Guidecam whose ST4 port is to be used for guiding. The OnStep is a pure computer controller that is operated via ASCOM and USB connection.

Alternatively, the mounts mentioned above can be operated via a Koch FS2 controller, which does have a functioning ST4 input. However, the FS2 controller lacks functions that are required for automation, such as a meridian flip or a parking position, as well as the option of saving a star alignment.

If you absolutely need ST4 guiding, this is only guaranteed on Kiripotib Astrofarm with the Skywatcher EQ6-R mounts. Please note this information when booking your desired equipment.

Fornax 55

Load capacity: 30 kg (photographic)

With OnStep Telescope control (24V)
SUITABLE FOR OPTICS UP TO APPROX. 12″

Interfaces: USB (USB B “printer cable” available), ST4 and WIFI.
Connections: motors Ra+DEC, 2 cables, USB B, ST4 port.
Control and park position as well as GoTo functionality is possible via ASCOM on PCs.

The observatory with the Fornax 55 mounting is only rented out to experienced astronomers since the handling of such large mountings and telescopes require practice and experience.

ALT 6 ADN

Load capacity 35kg,

With OnStep Telescope control (24V)
Suitable for telescopes and astrographs up to 14″.
Only in combination with Fotonewtonian 10”

Interfaces: USB (USB B “printer cable” available), ST4 and WIFI.
Connections: motors Ra+DEC 2 cables, USB B, ST4 port.
Control and park position as well as GoTo functionality is possible via ASCOM on PCs.

Fornax 51

Load capacity 24kg
With OnStep Telescope control (24V).
Suitable for telescopes up to 12″

Equipped with a combined 2” and 3” dovetail clamp.
A 3” double adapter also forms part of the package.

EQ6-R

Load capacity up to 20kg.
Only suitable for optics up to max. 250mm aperture.

Syn-Scan hand controller, USB-B connection & ST4 auto guider port.

Power transformer 220V to 12V.

Recording from either Vixen Style or Losmandy rail.

Takahashi EM200

Load capacity 12 kg
WITH TEMMA-2 CONTROLLER FOR AUTO GUIDING.
Suitable for telescopes up to 8”
Connection of the optics via Losmandy 3″ dovetail.

The Temma-2 controller of the EM-200 mount:
Interfaces: ST4- and serial interface
Connections: hand controller, serial interface, auto guide socket
(Adapter for RJ12-cable available).

To connect your notebook to the EM-200 control panel, we provide a USB/Serial adapter! GoTo via PC is possible, e.g. with CDC or TheSky software! For this purpose, please install the software components which are marked below in addition to your star map software. Please adhere to the sequence shown below!
